Albyon
Albyon is an overground rogue-like, that will eventually become narrative-based, somewhat akin to interactive fiction. At the moment it is still in early development, so very little of this is evident.
It is based on an RPG that I wrote for the ZX Spectrum back in the 1980s. I no longer have anything of that game remaining apart from possibly a few notes, and I don't even remember what it was called. However, I think I remember enough of it to be able to create a new version.
The ZX Spectrum version was essentially an overground rogue-like, although that term didn't exist when I wrote the original, and at the time I hadn't come across NetHack or indeed any other rogue-like. It was a sandbox game, with no specific goal other than to collect wealth and fame, at least as far as I remember.
The original map was fully displayed on the Spectrum screen, so it was very small -- I think it was 10 x 10 squares, 100 squares in total. The new version will be larger, but not excessive. At the moment I am thinking of 50 x 50, with each square displayed as 16x16 on-screen (making the map 800 x 800 pixels, which seems reasonable for modern screens).
This updated version was originally my entry for the RemakeJam (June 19 2017 - June 26 2017), and is browser-based at the moment, written in Javascript, but it's possible that this might change at some point.
